The protocol in detail
YSKAR and YSR, byte by byte.
Everything below is fixed in the consensus code and the same for every node. Nothing depends on a server, a company or a setting.

Anatomy of a block header
Every block starts with exactly 136 bytes. Its hash is double SHA-256 over these bytes, and it must not exceed the target that the difficulty sets.
Anatomy of a transfer
A transfer moves YSR from one account to another. It is 168 bytes plus an optional memo.
- The signature also covers the chain ID, so a transfer signed for YSKAR is invalid on any other network.
- The nonce counts the transfers an account has sent. The same transfer can never be applied twice.
- An optional expiry height lets a transfer lapse if it has not been included by then.
Block 0
The first block of the chain. Its coinbase carries a short message, and its reward went to an address nobody can spend from.

Issuance by era
An era lasts 12,000 blocks, about 83 days. In each era the reward is half of the one before. From block 444,000 no new YSR are created and miners receive the fees only.
| Era | Blocks | Reward per block | Issued in the era | Total after the era |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0 | 0 – 11,999 | 875 YSR | 10,500,000 | 10,500,000 |
| 1 | 12,000 – 23,999 | 437.5 YSR | 5,250,000 | 15,750,000 |
| 2 | 24,000 – 35,999 | 218.75 YSR | 2,625,000 | 18,375,000 |
| 3 | 36,000 – 47,999 | 109.375 YSR | 1,312,500 | 19,687,500 |
| 4 | 48,000 – 59,999 | 54.6875 YSR | 656,250 | 20,343,750 |
| 5 | 60,000 – 71,999 | 27.34375 YSR | 328,125 | 20,671,875 |
| … | ||||
| 36 | 432,000 – 443,999 | 0.00000001 YSR | 0.00012 | 20,999,999.99832 |
Rewards are counted in whole base units (0.00000001 YSR), so each halving drops the remainder: in total 20,999,999.99832 YSR will ever be issued, slightly below the maximum.
